Hi all you lovely crafter's, hope all is well in your Crafty World today!!
This one measures approx 30cm x 20cm x 4cm but they are available in different sizes and styles.
This is what it looks like before i decorated it
Now i was going to do a Wedding Theme shrine BUT my darker side got the better of me and went for Halloween!! I will do a wedding theme one next as this was such a fun project to make.
So here we go on how i created it all. Quite a few photo's as i wanted to show how i decorated it all.
Firstly coat the MDF in a primer to seal the MDF
Now for the really fun bit. I so LOVE doing this bit, rip up pieces of tissue paper ( i always save it from shops what have wrapped items in) and paint with primer and stick onto the MDF & squish & pleat it up as you go. Seal over the top with primer so it takes the paint later on.
So once that is all dry paint with a black Acrylic paint.
Next dry brush with various Purple Acrylic Paint getting lighter with each shade trying to just to catch the tissue paper. The last colour used was Cosmic Shimmer Shimmers Paint in Pink Plum to add some sheen to it.
That is it for the actual MDF (super easy)
Now for the decoration of the inside.
I used the Graphic 45 8" x 8" Rare Oddities. Such beautiful papers but it pains me when i have to cover the other side of the paper as it's double sided & they are ALL gorgeous images.
I have also used another MDF kit from TCP...
Again seal all the MDF. Once dry i applied Texture Paste with my fingers (messy but fun lol)
I glued some little wood shelves to the back. These were made with the bits of wood you get in Canvases what i normally throw away BUT not any more!! lol
The skeleton cameo i made with an image glued to the wood frame & sealed with Tim Holtz Glossy Accents. Once it was dry i picked it up & the darn thing cracked as it was only on thin card but happy accident i think as it adds to the spooky theme!! The frame was painted black & dry brushed with Cosmic Shimmers Shimmer Paint in Gold Lime.
The Halloween items used were just inexpensive kids plastic what are for parties etc what i sealed with a primer and painted again with Acrylics and drybrushed with the Cosmic Shimmers.
They look so much more expensive now there all painted!
This one in the photo was a Necklace with a tiny glow stick which i thought would look cool lit up in the Shrine.
Here it is all finished!!
The Potion Bottles were some old aftershave bottles.
So now i am asking everyone to see if they have any what i can recycle!! lol
Some close ups to show all the cute things i used.
The green potion bottle i mixed some alcohol ink with water and it went all yukky cloudy but then it went all gloopy so that was another happy accident.... i think.
You can also see the texture more easily on the actual MDF Shrine.
This was a plastic necklace what i cut up and used at the top.
Wow that was another long post but again i wanted to try and explain how i made it and what i used just incase anyone was interested.
Thankyou for taking a look and i hope i haven't bored you too much.
Hugs Amanda
