Hello all you lovely crafter's out there!!
Hope you all had a Great Christmas & Happy New Year!!
Wow i can't believe another year has gone and were now in "2016"
So let's kick the New Year off with a new challenge over at That Craft Place
Theme is super easy..... Anything Goes
Winner gets 5 Images of there choice from That Craft Place Etsy Store
Well i decided to do a Mixed Media project for this challenge.
I have done some step by step photo's & products used to show how i made it so i hope you can follow along with them.
Here's what it looks like before in it's raw MDF state.
First you need to glue it altogether as it comes flat packed but it is SUPER EASY to put together & if i can do it then anyone can! lol
( I used Cosmic Shimmer Glue)
Next i sealed all the MDF with Multi Surface Primer so it takes the Paint well.
Now for the bit i absolutely LOVE doing. Rip pieces of crinkly tissue paper it to strips & apply the multi surface primer or pva glue to one side and then stick that to the MDF and while it is still wet start to make creases and folds in the tissue paper. Then apply the primer or pva over the top. I continued until all of the suitcase was covered. It did take along time to do this stage but it is so relaxing and fun to do this.
Here's what it looks like at this stage.
Next i Painted all of the suitcase with Navy Acrylic Paint.
Once dry i dry brushed all of it with a slightly lighter blue trying to just catch all the crinkled parts so they start to stand out from the main suitcase.
Next dry brush very lightly with White Acrylic Paint so it really highlights those creases and folds in the tissue paper.
A photo of the back of the Suitcase as you can really see all the crease and folds.
The Suitcase straps & corners i added some dry brushing in Gold Lime Shimmer Paint by Cosmic Shimmer ( this is so Lush)
Next i used a wooden postage frame from DoCrafts Christmas Basics.
Painted it in Black Acrylic Paint, once dry i dry brushed with the Lime Shimmer Paint. I added a piece of travel paper to the back of the frame what i found in my own stash once i had aged it with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Faded Jeans & Brushed Corduroy.
The small wood suitcase again from my stash was covered with Ranger Emboss It Dauber and sprinkled with Cosmic Shimmer UTE Crystals in Vintage Metal & while still hot and sticky i added some Vintage Silver UTE Crystals.
I made 2 Luggage Tags out of chipboard & Stamped with a Mixture of Tim Holtz & Graphic 45 & again aged with the same Tim Holtz Ink Pads used above.
The word FLY is a stencil from That Craft Place Ltd
Here it is all Finished!!
I used some Silver Metal Washers on the straps. You can also see the Gold Lime Shimmer Paint on the straps & corners.
Here's a side view as you can see the crinkles and folds of the tissue in this photo.
Here is my Suitcase all Packed!!
Shame it's not a real one and packed for a Holiday somewhere nice! lol
But it was perfect though for storing all my different Glues!
Well that is all and i do hope i haven't bored you with the photo's and step by step instructions.
